While traveling in the Gulf States in the 1930s, Zora Neale Hurston collected and recorded stories / folk tales from Black Americans from different walks of life. Some worked in orange groves, mines, sawmills, garages, and were schoolchildren. This collection shares their stories, jokes, and ‘tall tales’ in a picture book readers can enjoy with Christopher Myers's adaptation and addition of bold and expressive collages.
